Cameras
Looking for the best travel vlogging camera?
We use two cameras to make our travel vlogs. Both of our cameras are Canon.
We have the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS RP.
Here are the reasons we like and recommend the Canon EOS R5.
-The image stabilization is good with this camera.
-The video and image quality is phenomenal.
-The autofocus is almost perfect. We have never seen it go out of focus.
-It is an overall perfect vlogging camera, and we are so happy that we upgraded to it.
Here are the reasons we like and recommend the Canon EOS RP.
-It is an excellent camera for beginners.
-The camera has a full-frame sensor, a rare feature for a camera in its price range.
-It is compatible with the new RF range.
We recommend buying extra batteries for this camera because the battery life is not the greatest.
Is an iPhone useful for travel vlogging?
In addition to our two Canon cameras, we also recently started filming with an iPhone.
The phone we use is the Apple iPhone 13 Pro.
The iPhone 13 Pro has been a great addition to our camera gear because it is compact and easy to carry. The photo and video quality on the phone are also spectacular.
Camera Lenses
What lenses do we use with our Canon EOS cameras?
At one point, we had an entire bag filled with various lenses. We have since narrowed down our lenses to three. We have a range of 15-200mm with our three lenses. This is perfect for getting distance shots as well as close-up shots.
The three lenses we use are the Canon RF 15-35mm, Canon RF 24-105mm, and Canon RF 70-200mm.
The Canon RF 15-35mm lens is our primary vlogging lens. We use it for the majority of shots while out filming. It is perfect for vlogging because of its wide-angle.
The Canon RF 24-105mm lens is versatile. It can be used for vlogging and taking zoomed-in B roll shots. This is because of its wide focal length. This was our primary vlogging lens until we got the Canon RF 15-35mm lens.
The Canon RF 70-200mm lens is our newest addition. We needed a telephoto zoom lens, and this one is just what we needed. The lens is travel friendly because of its compact size.
Camera Bags
Looking for the perfect camera bag?
We both use WANDRD camera bags and love them!
Ali uses the WANDRD PRVKE Travel and Camera Backpack.
Here is why Ali loves this camera bag.
-It has three access points which make accessing the camera easy.
-The zippers are at the back, which is a great safety feature.
-There is a secure passport pocket for storing items such as a wallet, phone, and documents.
-The roll-top allows the bag to expand, creating more room.
-Everything is easily organized inside the bag with the removable camera cubes.
Holly uses the WANDRD Hexad Duffel Backpack.
Here is why Holly loves this camera bag.
-It has dual side access for removing and storing the camera.
-The bag opens up down the middle for lay flat packing. A problem with traditional backpacks is that there is no access to the internal compartments of the bag.
-The padded laptop sleeve makes storing and accessing the laptop a breeze.
-It is weather-resistant and durable.
-Everything is easily organized inside the bag with the removable camera cubes.
The backpacks are super functional and make organization easy. They are also durable and weather resistant. Both camera bags are also carry-on sized for air travel.
The WANDRD camera cubes fit perfectly inside.
Laptops
What laptops do we use?
We both use Apple laptops.
Our laptops are the 2021 Apple MacBook Pro and the 2018 Apple MacBook Air.
Ali’s laptop is the MacBook Pro. He just recently got this laptop, and it has been a game-changer. He can create animations and video edits at lightning speed.
Holly’s laptop is the 2018 Apple MacBook Air. This laptop is thin and light, so its great for traveling.
Drone
What drone do we use?
Drones are must-haves for travel vlogging. They capture great shots of the surrounding scenery.
The drone that we use is the DJI Mavic Air.
Here are the reasons we like and recommend this drone.
-It is foldable, so it easily fits inside of our camera bag.
-The DJI Mavic Air is also lightweight.
-The drone has superb flight performance.
-The footage that it captures is of fantastic quality.
GoPro
How do we film action videos?
Sometimes we are in situations where we cannot bring our vlogging camera.
In these situations, we use our GoPro HERO7.
Here are the reasons we like and recommend GoPro.
-It has excellent video stabilization.
-The GoPro is waterproof, so it is exceptional for filming water activities and sports videos.
-Due to its small size, there are several mounts for the GoPro so we can get great action shots.
Travel Vlogging Accessories
What are our top travel vlogging accessories?
Our must-have travel vlogging accessories are the JOBY GorillaPod, Rode VideoMic Pro+, Rode DDC- Microphone Wind Shield, Bose Headphones, and our GoPro Accessory Kit.
One of our most used accessories is the JOBY GorillaPod. We use it almost every time we are out filming a travel vlog. It is heavy, but it works well for handheld vlogging. It is also able to wrap around items to get different angles. The GoriallPod can also be a tripod.
Our go-to microphone for vlogging is the VideoMic Pro+ with the Rode DDC- Microphone Wind Shield. This microphone has superior audio quality, and when paired with the windshield, outside noise is filtered out.
Ali almost always has his Bose headphones on or around his neck. They are particularly great for video editing.
Our GoPro Accessory Kit is compatible with most GoPro models. It includes head and chest straps, a floating handle grip, mounts, and other accessories.
We also have the BOYA MM1 Microphone with the Rode WS8 Deluxe Windshield as an extra microphone.
For iPhone accessories, we recommend the Apple Clear Case for the iPhone 13 Pro.
Our drone accessories are the Lens Filter Kit for DJI Mavic Air.
To keep chargers and wires organized, we use the UGREEN Travel Case.
Media Storage & Batteries
What storage media do we use?
For hard drives, we love the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD.
We have three of the 1TB hard drives. We have one 2TB hard drive. Holly also uses the WD 1TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive.
For our memory cards, we also use SanDisk Memory Cards.
We have the SanDisk Extreme Pro and the SanDisk Extreme.
For our Canon cameras, we use these batteries:
We use the BM Premium LP-E6NH battery for the Canon EOS R5. We use the Canon Battery Pack LP-E17 for the Canon EOS R5.
We have three batteries for the Canon EOS R5 and four batteries for the Canon EOS RP.
