Breakfast
Cafe Kamenice (coffee)
In the Old Town of Dubrovnik, there are plenty of terraces to enjoy coffee.
We chose a cafe called Kamenice. This cafe seems to be a cafe frequented by the locals. It has a delightful outdoor seating area and acceptable prices.
It is close to the Jesuit Stairs and Old Town Market. The cafe has blue and white umbrellas and chair cushions, making it easy to spot.and white umbrellas and chair cushions, you’ll know you’re in the right place.
They did not serve breakfast, so they recommended we go to the bakery around the corner for croissants. I do not remember the bakery's name, but it is right by Kamenice.
Get a few coffees and a pastry and enjoy the views and sunshine.
The coffee was 14 kunas ($1.94).
The croissants were 6 kunas ($.83)
Gradska kavana Arsenal Restaurant
For breakfast, we highly recommend Gradska kavana Arsenal Restaurant.
The coffee and food were good, but the views were AMAZING!
The outdoor terrace overlooks the Old Town Port, so you can watch the boats come and go while sipping your coffee.
This restaurant has one of the most charming outdoor seating areas in Dubrovnik, and Dubrovnik has plenty of appealing restaurants from which to choose.
We opted for a table not directly in the sun but still on the terrace.
We ordered lattes with our breakfast.
The healthy breakfast came with salad, eggs, avocado, and an assortment of bread and jams.
The Eggs Benedict came with a side salad.
We could sit there forever with those views.
The lattes are 28 kunas each ($3.90).
The healthy breakfast is 52 kunas ($7.25), and the
Eggs Benedict is 58 kunas ($8.09).
Lunch
We recommend two restaurants for simple, affordable, and delicious lunch options, Barba and Fast Food Republic.
Barba
For lunch, a fantastic option for fast-food seafood is Barba. Because of its location right on the sea, Dubrovnik is the perfect place to eat fresh seafood.
The family-run restaurant is on a side street off Stradun, the main street in the Old Town.
It has a cozy indoor eating area for dining, or you can get your sandwich for takeaway.
The Dubrovnik fast food joint has fresh salmon and octopus sandwiches.
We enjoyed the freshness of the seafood and the hospitality of the staff.
The salmon sandwich is 59 kunas ($8.22), and the octopus sandwich is 54 kunas ($7.53).
Fast Food Republic
This place was perfect after a long day of walking around the Dubrovnik Walls, a must-do activity while you are in Dubrovnik.
The service was tremendous at Fast Food Republic, and so were the prices.
We enjoyed the chicken sandwich and chicken wrap.
The chicken sandwich with fries is 75 kunas ($10.46), and the chicken wrap is 70 kunas ($9.76).
Gelato
Peppino’s
The place to go for gelato is Peppino's. They advertise that they have the best gelato in Dubrovnik, and we would have to agree.
I am still thinking about how good the gelato was there and wish we would have gone back for seconds.
The lines at Peppino’s can be long, but we think it is worth the wait.
The scoop sizes are generous, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
We recommend Ferrero Rocher and Lemon Pie.
After getting your gelato, we recommend walking to the Old Port. The port is an enjoyable place to sit along the water and enjoy your gelato.
One scoop of gelato is 18 kunas ($2.51).
Dinner
Trattoria Carmen
Located near the end of a street close to the Old Port, Trattoria Carmen has Italian food with a Dubrovnik twist.
It is a small restaurant with friendly staff.
We got the Pljukanci (Croatian hand-rolled pasta) with seafood and grilled calamari.
Lanii
With cozy outdoor heaters and blankets, Lanii looks inviting.
The waiter at Lanii said that their Black Risotto was one of the best in Dubrovnik, so we had to try it. He was right because it was our favorite meal.
The black risotto at Lanii would be our number one recommendation for must-try food in Dubrovnik.
The black risotto is 90 kunas ($12.48).
Gourmet
After wandering along the cute alleyways of Dubrovnik, we stumbled upon Gourmet. The seafood is fresh, and the prices are reasonable.
We got the tuna steak and black risotto. Both meals were fresh.
We like the sesame seeds on top of the tuna steak.
The tuna steak is 145 kunas ($20.21), and the black risotto is 98 kunas ($13.66).
5. D'Vino Wine Bar
After dinner, if you are looking for a fabulous wine bar, D'Vino Wine Bar is another must-try place in Dubrovnik.
The atmosphere inside D’Vino Wine Bar is cozy and intimate. We had a great time meeting other travelers while enjoying the wine.
They have a tasty house red. They also do wine tastings if you want to sample Croatian wine.
A glass of house red wine is 32 kunas ($4.46).
